A Tribute to Ray Kane
1925-2008

Legendary Hawaiian slack key guitar musician Raymond Kane died at age 82 on Wednesday, February 27 at 6:40 pm at Kaiser Permanente's Moanalua Medical Center.

Facts About Ray Kane:
  • Born in 1925 in Koloa, Kauai
  • Grew up in Nanakuli
  • He was married to Elodia Kane.
  • He suffered from respiratory problems for years
  • Made first recording in 1961 Punahele CD is only one to feature his acoustic guitar in a solo setting
  • in 1987 he received a National heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts
  • In 2003 he received a Na Hoku Hanohano Lifetime Achievement Award.
