A Tribute to Genoa Keawe: 1918-2008
Hawaiian falsetto singing legend and ukulele player
Aunty Genoa Keawe was born on October 31, 1918 and she died on
February 25, 2008. I took this picture
at the September 2007 Oahu Festivals Falsetto Contest,
about five months before she passed away.
She did not sing at the contest in 2007 like she did in 2006,
but she did sing - in full form - at her 89th birthday party, which was
about one month after this picture was taken.
