Died February 27, 2008
Grew up in Nanakuli on the Waianae Coast of Oahu
His stepfather was a fisherman
Full name: Raymond Kaleoalohapoinaoleohelemanu Kane
He was married to Elodia Kane.
He suffered from respiratory problems for years
Made first recording in 1961
Punahele CD is only one to feature his acoustic
guitar in a solo setting
in 1987 he received a National heritage Fellowship from
the National Endowment for the Arts
In 2003 he received a Na Hoku Hanohano Lifetime Achievement
Award.
