2008 Wine Country Ukulele Festival
The first annual Wine Country Ukulele Festival will be held in Northern California's Napa Valley October 9-11, 2008. Performers and instructors will include Herb Ohta, Jr., Keoki Kahumoku, Robyn Mehealani, James Hill, Ralph Shaw, and others.

New Southern California Hawaiian Falsetto Festival
The first annual Aloha Falsetto Festival of Southern California will take take place Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm, at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Southern California. Featured entertainers will include Raiatea Helm, Gary Haleamau, Steven Espaniola, Ryan Souza, Jeff Peterson, Abraham Lagrimas, Jr, and Hoku Zuttermeister, who swept the Na Hoku Hanohano Award in 2008 by winning Best Album, Best Hawaiian Album, Best Male Vocalist, Best Hawaiian Language Performance, Best Liner Notes, and Most Promising New Artist Awards.

Free Live Hawaiian Music at Waikiki Beach Walk
The new Waikiki Beach Walk resort area on the Ala Moana end of Waikiki has three free Hawaiian music series in the summer of 2008: (1) a big-name performer concert every two months called called "Na Mele No Na Pua", (2) a weekly Sunday afternoon Hawaiian music concert series called "Sunday Showcase", and (3) a weekly Tuesday afternoon hula performance series called "Ku Haaheo: To Cherish With Pride" Free Hawaiian Music Concerts at Waikiki Beach Walk

In June of 2008 a new Web site called Hawaiian Music History was created because the Hawaiian music section of the Hawaii Travel Newsletter was growing larger then the travel section. The new Web site will have information about Hawaiian music artists, awards, concerts, festivals, contests, forums, organizations, radio stations, recordings, shops, songs, venues, books, videos, and Web sites. The site will also have special sections for hula, slack key guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar, and ukulele.
