    The Makaha Sons of Niihau released two more albums before Skippy Kamakawiwoole died in 1982, the self-titled Makaha Sons of Niihau in 1979 and Mahalo Ke Akua in 1981. Makaha Sons of Niihau

    The group was devastated when founding member Skippy Kamakawiwoole died in 1992. Sometime during the approximate time period, Mel Amina left the group and he was replaced by founding member Jerome Koko, who rejoined the group after four years away from it. Jerome's brother, upright bass player John Koko, also joined the group at this time.

    DESCRIPTION: This album was released after Skippy died (in 1982) and after Mel Amina left the group. Mel was replaced by founding member Jerome Koko, who rejoined the group ater four years away from it. Jerome's brother, upright bass player John Koko, also joined the group. This was the sixth album released by the Makaha Sons of Niihau and it won them their first Na Hoku Hanohano award. At the time this album was released the group was a quartet featuring Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, Israel Kamakawiwoole, Jerome Koko, and John K. Koko.

    DESCRIPTION: This album, originally released in 1986, marked the 10th anniversary of the first Makaha Sons of Niihau recording. On this album they include some new songs and some new arrangements of some old songs. On two of the new songs they back their cousin Jean Ileialoha Keale Beniamina. The album also includes "Wasted On The Way, a song recorded earlier by crosby, Stills, and Nash.

Lyrics are not included, but the liner notes are rich with historical information about this talented group of men.
