About the Song "Hawaii Aloha"
One of the most important songs in Hawaii is "Hawaii Aloha" which was
written by a missionary in the 1800's at the request of a Hawaiian king,
The song "Hawaii Aloha" has significant meaning in the Hawaiian sovereignty movement
and it is sung every year at the opening ceremony of the Hawaii State Legislature.
It is also sung at every inauguration of a Hawaii state governor.
You will probably hear "Hawaii Aloha" most often at the
end of a Hawaiian music concert, when everyone in the audience holds
hands and sings it while swaying to the music. Note that it is traditional to
raise your hands up over your head to sing the last verse and chorus.
